If you were Evans - would you offer Teddy Bishop a new deal? 08:31 - Jan 21 with 4492 viewsCurrie10

Feel for this lad, so much talent, still only 21 infact 6 months off becoming 22. Clearly plenty of time left for his career.

Many on here said he looked back to his old self v QPR.

However, he's probably on a decent penny, and can we rely on him? Time to part ways, or try to persuade him / agent a one year deal?

He is not on as much as you think. You would be very surprised.

I would. He needs that opportunity to prove his fitness, his ability is not in question. Perhaps a two year deal and then review the situation. Shows goodwill on the club's part too and that is something they have done with other players which is a nice touch.

If he doesn’t, and if I were a championship manager I would snap him up quickly and hope that my medical team is better than what is on offer at Ipswich. As he is a very good player when fit.

It’s not up to Evans though. Mick ultimately makes the recommendation on contracts and Evans carries out his instruction.

With Mick’s future not decided, in public at least, it won’t happen yet.

Yes, I think we need to. From a PR point of view it is far better that he walks away than we push him out..

With the added bonus of getting to see the epic diva strop from him that he is 'only' being offered an extension on the same money he is currently on.....or with potentially more OTE depending on add-ons.

Go on, do elaborate.

Must be on a decent penny as we were having him looked at when flying 14/15 and signed a couple of new deals.

I know a few Bristol Rovers players are on £4-£6k so I'd imagine his basic has to be quite a bit higher than that.

I'd keep him. He's got too much quality for him to slip away to another team and then become a valuable asset for them.

Although a lot depends on what we don't know which is how much these different injuries have taken their toll or reveal an underlying problem. With Dozzell and Huws also coming back and needing patience, we can't afford players with chronic injuries especially in in one position.

Maybe the best solution is to give him another year and loan him out to someone like Colchester (for the first half of the season at least) to ensure he gets game time and can also prove his long-term fitness.

Pronouns: He/Him

No. He has made barely 30 first team appearances over the last 3 seasons. Dozzell is the coming man once he gets over his own injury (although knowing our luck, he ‘ll also turn out to be a crock). Downes and Nydam are pushing claims (once they get past THEIR injuries). Add a fully fit Emyr Huws and I really don’t see where he fits in now.

It is very unfortunate, but like Jonny Williams, I don’t trust him anymore.

Without a shadow of a doubt, that's a yes from me. He showed in the QPR game that he still has that quality that saw Karanka wax lyrical about him after the Boro game.

There is an option for another year, I would guess they'll take it up. Although he'll not be on peanuts, he'll not be on a big wage in the overall context given he signed his deal a few seasons back having not long broken into the team.

Ted B is one of a number of players who sem to have suffered many & long term 'injuries'.
I wonder if Mr E has brought in any spcialist knowledge / skill to look at why

Yes, he's one of the few players that can elovate us to contenders if fully fit. Big big if though. Relatively small price to pay for.hope though.

It’s south of £5k and some of that is payment from a sponsor.

That’s not strictly true is it.

The Chambo saga last season proved that. Chambo said he wanted to stay, mick said he wants him to stay and yet he nearly ended up going because our owner cba to sort his contract out.

There was more to it than that. Chambers was offered a huge deal by Forest that complicated matters. Was Evans going to match that?

How i described it, is basically how it works at Ipswich. If the agent asks for too much, then of course it is Evans’ perogative to tell them to do one

No he doesn’t. Mick recommends. But Evans makes the final call.

My point is, Evans doesn’t decide who should or shouldn’t get a new contract as i’ve explained above.

If the player wants too much, then that is down to Evans and the agent i agree. But Mick is very much part of that process and has admitted giving guidance on wages to be offered, what to go up to etc

Evans clearly signs it off, as he is paying for it

We keep getting told players are on such a low wage.

However, how the hell is our wage bill £17 mill plus unless - lets say Bishop is on this, and Bru is on a low figure like many seem to think.

If that's the case, we must have several on £20k plus to balance out the yearly total.
