Was he really though? Anyhoo, with his SBR links I expect no less than a quick sale.

He was. I had the good fortune to see him play for Brazil vs Chile in the 1998 World Cup Finals in Paris, he scored a hat-trick and was a force of nature. Had pace, incredible speed and touch too. Great, great player.

98 appearances for Brazil (62 goals) Plus I imagine his trophy cabinet at home is a little more densely populated than my sparse 'Clubman' and 'Top Scorer' awards from Under 12's and U13's Also a World cup winners medal or two and a golden boot et al. I think he's rightly considered one of the greatest of his generation if not any generation.

Maybe. He had a successful spell at Celtic so maybe there's some mutual respect. We've also done better in recent decades with man-managers rather than coaches. Mick seems more along the lines of Craig Brown, Walter Smith, McLeish and Strachan so might be a good fit too.

If he had any sense, he wouldn't be bringing his own wealth to the table though - he'll head a consortium funded by other wealthy types. It does beg the question who would be a good buy in the Championship though. Although we're treading water atm, you would think that we'd be a decent option in that we'd be relatively cheap, free of much external debt, "fairly" sustainable on a year-to-year basis and with a decent academy.

How many other championship clubs are there that he's featured on the bench against? Done deal.

Sir Bobby rated him the 2nd best player he had managed. Kevin Beattie was 1st.

Which is sad for those that never saw the great Kevin Beattie in his far too short prime because they missed someone very very special.

Didn't he actually come on for Christian Vieri in the last 10-15 mins at the San Siro? #TWTD

Town's saviour? on 10:19 - Jan 23 with 5566 views | monty_radio | Given that he is said here to be interested in buying a second tier club in Spain or England I'm guessing that he doesn't know too much about our Championship. Second tier clubs in Spain don't come close to the interest, gates and wealth of the Championship.

Town's saviour? on 09:22 - Jan 24 with 5207 views | itfcjoe | I swear at some point he was linked with a loan move here from Inter when he was recovering from an injury, sure it was 2+2=179 but I can't find any evidence of this link now. I would love to have him here, quite possibly my favourite ever player.
