Mick's gone imho. 14:01 - Jan 26 with 34666 viewsSuperfrans

In the press conference today, he was being asked about McGoldrick. Was saying he hasn't received any calls from any managers, so says he's not going anywhere at the moment.

He was then asked whether he would like Evans to offer him a new contract.
Mick replied, "Didz might want to leave with me..."

It was an odd thing to say, there hadn't been any discussion about Mick's own position immediately before and it seemed like a slip by Mick.

Later in the conference a journalist said this meant they had to ask about his future. Asked directly whether Mick *wanted* to stay, he outright refused to answer. This was justified by saying that we have a match tomorrow to focus on, but it was an odd thing to not answer.

Surely, the obvious and simple answer (if it was true) was to say, "Yes, I do want to stay, but we haven't yet had that conversation"

In my view, he's gone. No doubt at all in my mind.

I think that's always been the case IMHO.

We know he's done here.
He know he's done here.

But does Evans know that?

Yep, agreed.

But I don't think ME will pay him off and simply let his contract expire.

Please note: prior to hitting the post button, I've double checked for anything that could be construed as "Anti Semitic" and to the best of my knowledge it isn't. Anything deemed to be of a Xenophobic nature is therefore purely accidental or down to your own misconstruing.

Mick won't walk because that means he wouldn't get a payout.

Evans doesn't want to sack him as that means paying the last 6 months of his contract up.

I can't understand why they don't just mutually agree to go their separate ways and try negotiate a settlement.

If he's gone, and everyone has accepted it, then one would hope we have a manager lined up right now to replace him.

As soon as are mathematically safe they should be ready to go.

This, and would give a new manager 3/4 games to assess what players to keep, what positions need strengthening etc.

That means we'll do the complete opposite.

I think he just doesn't want to talk publicly about his own contract situation. It's his job, after all.

Negotiations may be ongoing, which could be upset by premature revelations.

I think it more likely he was winding Brenner up.

I'm less sure. After all, we don't know who might be available in the latter part of the season/over the summer.

Who is going to blink first? If McCarthy walks no pay off. ME doesn't want to pay him early as then he'd have to pay MM and the new manager's salary. This situation will carry on until the end of the season.

It was a little afterwards, when he refused to answer the question whether he wanted to stay. It was the comment and the refusal to say he would like to stay which surprised me.

If he says he's off it creates trouble. If he says he wants to stay it creates trouble.

We're analysing everything to a ridiculous degree.

People seem to think the situation at the club is toxic and reaching breaking point. I think it's probably ticking over as normal with the players, MM and ME all perfectly comfortable with the situation. We know he's going. Why not just support him for the remaining few months?

Truly impaired.

I think it will continue to the end of the season, unless Town get thumped by some team & MM's pride is really dented.
Under the current circumstances many Owner would put MM on 'gardening leave' e.g he sends him home on a NDA but pays him until the contract expires.

I do thinnk however that the biggest issue facing the Owner & his FB advisors is who MM's replacement should be & it may be that which has put MM's departure on hold?

The Owner is going to be very cagey, his advisors helped him to hire two failures and one that pi$$ed off many of the fans, damaging revenue. He will no doubt be very concerned that it's 4th time FU?

Watson to tweet 'Mick doesn't care what the fans think about his future' to rile the loonies up then act all defensive when people call him out on it.
