Aubameyang... 11:22 - Jan 31 with 2695 views | Marshalls_Mullet | ...have to say, am looking forward to seeing him in the prem. Lightening quick, dynamic player. After having a bit of a disaster on Sanchez, arsenal have made two very good signings in Mikytarian and Aubameyang.

Aubameyang... on 11:26 - Jan 31 with 2683 views | hype313 | Yes, the best window they have had even if it is forced on them, also selling Giroud for £18m at 31 when they paid £10m for him. Apparently Auba is quicker than Bolt over 30 yards, their forward line could be spectacular, problem is the back is awful and Cech has really gone downhill over the past few seasons. Man City don't f about either, Sane out for 6 weeks so throw £70m at Mahrez. Different world.

Having sold Walcott & Coquelin (and offloaded Sanchez' wage) they've brought some cash in as well.. A front 3 (or 4) containing Mkhi, Ozil, Auba and Lacazette looks fairly threatening. Though as is discussed every window, what Arsenal really need is a decent Defensive Mid as well as a commanding centre back. With an Adams or Campbell in that back 4 with someone like Petit in front they'd be lethal.. Should have gone out and signed Kante a couple of summers ago..

No idea what wages are but £18m to a Prem club is peanuts and he is vastly underrated IMO.

Realistically Arsenal arent in the same league as Man City, Utd and Chelsea in terms of the cost of their squads. The real top tier is those three sides, with Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs fighting it out for 4th spot. Agree with what you say re the defence and cech though. Wenger has neglected those positions for too long. People say his success was built on George Grahams defence, and that did give him a start, but the invincibles team was all Wengers signings in defence.

I think he's a very good player. And £18m sounds a lot for someone who will be 32 at the start of next season does seem a lot of money. .....but in todays crazy transfer market? Probably about right. ....to put it into context, its less than Utd paid Pogba's agent!!

Aubameyang... on 11:32 - Jan 31 with 2648 views | Kieran_Knows | £60m on a striker they don't really need, yet are still happy to plod along with the keeper, centre halves and centre mids they've got, who are all trash. Good signing, but when will they learn?

I wouldnt say they have bought in any cash. Their transfer outlay is more than they have recouped, and there wont be any saving in wages to be had there.

Not sure how they dont need a striker. They definitely need defensive reinforcement too though.

From the outside looking in, it just doesn't look like hes an 'urgent' type signing for them. Replacing Cech, as well as 2/3 of the central defenders and Xhaka, would have been top of my list of things to do, before signing another striker at £60m. [Post edited 31 Jan 2018 11:38]

I would say they should be making ALL of those signings, not forgoing a striker for the others. They were very light in terms of a current goal threat.

They do need a striker though as the gamble on Lacazette hasn't paid off. They had options on him for the past 3 years and didn't due to concerns, those concerns have come home to roost and that's why they have gone down this road with Auba.

You don't just 'dump' a £50m striker after 6 months though. As I say, whilst I think Aubameyang is a very good signing, there's other concerns in that Arsenal team that I thought would need addressing more than spending that sort of fee (and then letting a criminally underrated Giroud leave to a rival for pittance).

Lacazette has done OK, but they did need another top class striker.

All teams should have good striking options. Lacazette hasnt been dumped. He will still have a part to play. I think the Giroud price was about right in todays market.

Maybe they are, maybe they have realised this project hasn't worked out, either way Arsenal's recruitment planning is woeful, least they haven't signed someone with a broken back this time.

Think this new bloke from Dortmund has helped, they do seem to be clearing out a lot of the 'deadwood' this window (Alexis aside).

Aubameyang... on 12:19 - Jan 31 with 2530 views | King_of_Portman_Rd | Could still go and sign Jonny Evans this window.. Not that he's the answer but at least he's someone who will win his headers and personal battles and put his body on the line.. letting the rest of the team faff about and lose possession in a way that has become synonymous with Arsenal in recent seasons.

He's injured until late feb early march, no point considering they could get him for a quarter of the price in June.
