This won't be popular but the best thing we could do is get the fella out on loan for at least the 1st half of the season. He needs to be a world beater not a bit part.
This has nothing to do with who our manager will be, I would just rather see long term gain put ahead of short term.
Flynn Downes will hopefully come back all the better for his loan and go straight in.
If we are serious about our academy we should have a production line of players loaned through the levels. |  |

If we were in the PL, then you might have a point, but we're not, and the Championship is a great place for someone like Dozzell to come into.
Also, he has been excellent whenever he has played for us, he shone for the national team, what makes you think chucking him into League 2 would make him better than he would be in our first team? He clearly has the talent to hold his own in our first team. |  |

Yes we need the loans in progressive teams, like Luton, in both league 1 and league 2. The younger less developed can go to conference short term and try to do enough to impress a league club. | |

Whilst I can see your thinking here Truce, I disagree.
He's shown, already, that he's a cut above what we have in a lot of respects. If he has a good pre-season with us, then I see no reason why he wouldn't be consistently in the match day squad/ starting line up and getting game time here to be honest. [Post edited 13 Feb 2018 10:15]

That would have been toward the end of last season when he was very much a baby. Much easier to bounce back from a bad injury when you are 18. Mind you given our recent history of rehabbing players he may indeed be better off somewhere else. | |

If we had a bigger and better squad then absolutely we should be giving youngsters regular experience down the leagues, but we don't and therefore anyone who is fit and remotely competent has to stay in order to fill out the squad and take their place on the bench when the inevitable injuries pile up. |  | | |

A loan for the first half of the season at a high flying league 1/2 club would be great for his fitness and confidence! Probably better for us in the long term.
I would like to see him the ITFC XI next season! but I don't think he should be rushed! especially after the type of injury he's had. | |

Dozzell was good enough to start on the first day of the season and is one of the biggest stars of youth football in this country. He was playing a year ahead of himself for England in the summer and will likely go to the Championships again if he can get fit.
The team needs to be built around players like him, and there is no way he should be sent out on loan.

Would love to see those three in a central three, Downes sitting, Nydam doing the running and Dozzell pulling the strings. Bit of exerience in front and behind and we'd have a midfield full of beans, admittedly inexperienced, but we're getting nowhere with Skuse in the side. [Post edited 13 Feb 2018 11:27]

That description of him was accurate for how he looked at Huddersfield last season before being subbed at half time.
It was a bad day for the team as a whole but he did, on that occasion, look way out of his depth.
The flip side of that was his performance in his time on the pitch first game of this season.
It appeared that he had made huge strides in the months in between and he looked to be on the verge of having a very big season.
Hopefully he will come back at the start of next season and look equally impressive. |  | | |
