If a car number plate is damaged, not quite to the point of not being recognisable by number recognition cameras at supermarkets etc, but damaged nonetheless... is it a likely 'fail' on an MOT... ie, would i be best getting it replaced, and if so, where best to do so?

Highly likely to fail, although I don’t know the specifics of what should be visible on the plate to pass.

Take your V5 to a motor factor on the high street and just get one plate made up for less than a tenner

Not necessarily a fail, mine's been delaminating and cracked for the past two MOTs and not failed. Probably partly down to the tester on the day but if it gets recognised by cameras at car parks etc. it'll probably be OK.

I do keep meaning to get a replacement one with the EU flag while I still can.
