That is both hilarious and weirdly plausible. Wolves crashing out of the top two, Millwall 4-4-2ing their way in to the top six to give Fulham a nightmare play-off draw, Derby's annual spring nervous breakdown and what would surely be the lowest points accrued to stay up. Terrific stuff.

That's a fair pile of assumptions you've jumped to there.....

It would be mildly amusing to see Wolves both not make the top 2 and then fail in the play-offs.

SEE!! Those four dropped points v Norwich (A) and Sheff Wed (H) have robbed us of a dispiriting, yet strangely uplifting, seventh place in Guthrum world.

of course, that's not true - because those 4 points would have affected the calculations, and possibly catapulted us into the top 6....

The bottom of the league is so weak - bearing in mind in Mick's first season Peterborough went down with 54 points and a -9 GD, it wouldn't surprise me this year if 40 points is enough to stay up

I still think we should have not just drawn, but beaten Norwich at home. They were pedestrian at best that day, we just couldn't get hold of the ball

just being a little more positive, sod the thought of attractive football, and daft as it may sound the play offs would be more than a possibility. It really is a poxy league but it need courage, as well as determination, to get out of it.

The way this table calculator works (recent form over however many games are left, reflected forwards), it would just have put us in 8th, with Norwich and Wednesday both not even losing a place.

yes, we seem utterly unable to impose ourselves on a game for any great period of time. we rarely seem to put sustained pressure on the opposition. Everything we've done under Mick has been a grind, an effort, a snatch and steal, a fight. Nothing totally wrong with that but our inability to mix it up has been a common problem for too long.

I think that's why 2014-15 stands out so much, we did so much more on a consistent basis. At times this season I do think we've shown much more but it has been sporadic and not very recently.

Think that actually puts us 2pts up on our season's projection overall.

Either way it's a daily reminder of the fact we're just midtable on a flirting with Div 3 budget. Something that no amount of slander, denial and longing for Pardew will remedy.
