A quote from John Wark on the BBC article http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43466145

Interesting point really, when Chambo, Spence and Skuse have publicly backed him and Skuse even signing a new deal in recent weeks.

Always thought that there would be a few who would reconsider their town careers when Mick leaves, but will be interesting to see
1) how the players react in the remaining games, and
2) If there are increasing number of rumours linking our players away from the club as agents start to angle for moves in the summer

Be honest how many of our players not under contract would actually be wanted by other clubs?

They'll be gutted because it puts their comfortable lives under threat. But success is never particularly comfortable

What makes you think they have 'comfortable lives', when they're pushing themselves to the point that a large proportion of the squad are injured?

Bishop would be a good punt for one of the teams who get promoted to the Prem. Loan him out for a year to a Championship team, and then he's ready for them if they get relegated. If he breaks down again it's peanuts for a team with Sky/BT money.

From what I got from Evans' announcement is that Mick is a bloody good bloke. He integrated himself in the club and built a rapport with staff and players. For better or worse Mick has fiercely protected his players publicly and never singled them out for criticism. He even many times said Flopra had a chace in the team if he got it together, when we know his relationship with fans was breaking down.

I have no doubt he's a great manager to work for and the players will deeply miss him, and I would expect a few will be eager to play for him again. It is just a shame Mick struggled to relate with the supporters and never seemed to really put the importance of supporters in the forefront of his mind.

I suspect some of the players you have in mind might be more appealing than you expect.

For example Chambers nearly left last Jan. Skuse has played 300-400 championship matches and would be considered a fairly solid and experienced head in most bottom half to mid table champ teams.
Garner might fancy his chances elsewhere if we aren't going to have a 'blood and thunder' approach.

Obviously everything is dependent on the new manager, but there might be some players who are making contingency plans in the meantime in case their face doesn't fit or they simply fancy a change of scenery

Talking specifically about the so-called 'Mick's Favourites' and their comfortable position within the team.

On a side note, injuries are usually attributed to carelessness and lack of professionalism, not effort

Downes, Emmanuel, Smith, Parr, Pitman etc etc etc, even Bart when Gerks was inexplicably given the number 1. Whether you agree or not, this has been well covered on this board over the months and years. Surprised you've missed it

Maybe BC will offer him a job

Yes I agree but they are still under contract so wont go anywhere unless the new gaffer feels he does not need them.

Just because it's been well covered, doesn't mean it's correct.

Most of those were youths, injured, too limited or no better than the players they would have been replacing.

If anything, he has the easier time, given the superior ability over most other players. Not saying he doesn't work hard, but equally does not have to push himself beyond his skill level so often.
