Didn’t exactly go to plan did it.

Was that resilient backs to the wall defending, a toothless bowling attack or a bit of both?

From what I can see from this test

The Morning sessions have been quite profitable but it has then been a lot more difficult to take wickets from there after.

Look at all the tailenders who chipped in with decent knocks

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

I think taking all ten wickets in a day was going to be hard work, especially with the light leading to early finishes.

This remains telling though:

The 8th wicket was the difference between victory and the draw.

Had we got it when the new batsman came in, we’d have won. But Wagner battled with the other fella Sodhi who batted really well and that was enough.

The barmy army were superb throughout that last session that I watched though.

That’s a huge concern.

Woakes looked very much like he’d could become a ready made replacement either 2 years ago but he doesn’t seem to have recovered from the jnjury that saw him miss the champions trophy start of last summer.

Evans out

That’s happened a few times when you think about it in the last few years.

We’ve had a few that have been on the verge of showing they could step right up to help broad and Anderson out and then, bang, big injury that they struggle to properly recover from.

Woakes, Overton, the bloke with the double barrelled name and Wood off the top of my head. And to a lesser extent, Jake Ball and Steven finn in recent years too.

Woakes & Ali do well at home but struggle away from home is what came out when they compared the stats between home and away. Such wildly differing averages. Dropping Sodhi (good chance) on 0 was unfortunately where the chance to win was lost.
