Future Manager Perception of the Club and Fans 13:57 - Apr 11 with 1338 viewsMickMacTerry

Is anyone else concerned that the way a certain section of the fan base has acted recently may put off a potential suitor for the managerial position?

We seem to be perceived as a ‘good club’ generally speaking, but I can’t help but feel the way Mick has been hounded out may tarnish Ipswich as a club.

When Mick’s end-of-season departure was announced, it was an opportunity for us as a fan base to thank him for his efforts over the last 5 1/2 years, but instead he was subject to continued and enhanced abuse. It was an opportunity to show some class, but instead we may have made Evans’ job to persuade a replacement more difficult if he is indeed looking at someone currently employed.

Oh come on. We are talking (per game) not even 100 people with the boos and chants.

If that’s enough to put professional managers off then we are better off without them coming here.

Sometimes football fans boo and shout, here are itfc is nice compared to Leeds etc.

We’ll be good again... one day

Honestly, outside of Suffolk, and the few journos out there who are Town fans, I doubt anybody really thinks about us much anymore.

No doubt some poor sucker will think this job presents a good opportunity for them.

Think they'd be more concerned about an owner who's constantly hiring and firing, rather than a few kids getting arsey about the directness of football.

Obviously managers network amongst each other it could be detrimental in trying to find a decent replacement.

Doubt it. Much like the manager change won't affect the players' decisions regarding new contracts (unless the new bloke doesn't want them obviously!).

We're so close and emotionally wrapped up in it, it's easy to lose a bit of perspective sometimes. I'd imagine we're an attractive gig still. The lack of funds may have a bigger impact. If a manager was in a position of having to chose between us and a recently relegated team with parachute payments, now that could be a game changer.
