Despite mixed reviews me and the missus, along with 6 others went to the Forge last Saturday for a few drinks and a bite to eat.

What an absolute shambles the place is.

The service was shocking, they only had about 50% of the menu available and when the food finally arrived some of it wasn't cooked properly.

Despite us not paying for the food (which was appreciated by all), I would give this place a wide berth.

Down by the docks, it used to be called Loch Fyne / Mortimers (it's at the bottom of Bishops Hill) right by the College.

Went for breakfast a couple of weeks ago and to be honest it was pretty poor.

Not tried it in the evening yet.

I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun. I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

I agree I went with a group of friends and I was not overly impressed. I wish it stayed as Loch Fyne.

Isn't there always problems with newly opened eateries? They always say give it a few months before trying a place out?!

I had a similar experience myself, shame as its got the potential to be a top notch venue, but sadly let down by service and the food was bang average.

They have been open since the New Year.

Plenty of time to iron out initial teething problems.

Had lunch this week. All 4 of us enjoyed what we had. Service was great. Wasn’t busy, only 3 other tables, maybe that’s the key.

Yes I was going to say, when it first opened as Mortimers I can remember going around 15 years ago and the place was good and had a good reputation as a decent place to go for a meal.
