Help needed from old twtders re beer! 19:02 - Apr 13 with 1705 views

A call out to anyone around and drinking in 1978. The New Wolsey Theatre - for their production of 'Our Blue Heaven' - would like to know what canned beer a Town fan would have been drinking in those days, at home and on the trip to / from Wembley.

Had lager taken over by that time (Harp? Skol?), or was it still a matter of McEwans 80/- / Youngers Tartan Bitter? Or something local by Tolly / GK (I don't recall the local brewers selling beer in cans much at that time). I recall that Grotneys was on the way out, Double Diamond too - the megafizz of the early- mid-70s was getting a bit behind the trend.....

I am not your father but I was drinking draught Tartan in the Woodbridge RBL in 1978 so canned Tartan could well be the correct answer.

McEwans also another good shout for those times.

edit2-In fact it was draught McEwans in 1978 because I remember taking a plastic container full of it to the Charity Shield game.

Pretty sure Castlemaine 4x wasn't sold in the UK until the early 80s, possibly even as late as 1984. Surely not around in 1978.
