Good to see attitudes have changed so much since the 80's, when my ex & a few of his mates would keep arguing that he drove better after a few pints, particularly better than those who (in their opinions) were dozy but sober. Sad to say it was the majority view back then (at least in London & Leeds, where we lived at the time).

Personally the guy should have gone to prison. Money doesn’t matter to him. See all those adoring teenage kids going wild for him....?
Yup, they will get the idea that drink driving is cool with a fine. Slap a custodial sentence on him, that would make many think twice. Not only kids, but adults too.
Too soft this country....

Not unless "his" is a personal pronoun that would apply to her ...

Anyway, don't get your meaning?

When she was going down in a ball of flames on here one of her last low points was the claim that you could be more confident driving after a couple of drinks, or something along those lines.

And that foxes like ham sandwiches. In fact, rumour has it that J2 is a fox who has evolved to be almost humanlike thanks to TGs feeding regime. No wonder he's so confused about food.

Unfortunately not.

Just agree with a hell of a lot of what Benters says. To me, talks quite a lot of sense.

Ah.

Your second theory may be lent a bit of credence in light of the fact that dogs & foxes love eggs!

Ideally, you, me and Ant would all get a harsher penalty.

Except me and you, because I'm not a selfish melt who drinks and drives, and you're too young to drive.

Amen.

I get massively fed up with ' celebrities ' getting different treatment to you and I.

Absolute mug no time for drink drivers.

Which 'celebrities' have been treated differently to you and I? I know several people who have been convicted of drink driving and none of them have been imprisoned.

No another happy clappy person defending idiots who have done wrong.

He's drink and drove - when he has a bucket load of ££££ and could hire a bloody private taxi service 24/7/365 if necessary.

Yes, he has personal problems however it's no excuse anything could have happened he's got a very light punishment in my humble opinion - it's about time this country stopped being so bloody wet and soft.

Well, as we've had Conservative governments for nearly a decade, I assume you're blaming the right for our 'wet and soft country'?

Time to throw your weight behind Corbz?

I’m being honest. The guy was stupid. An example should made of him. Even if it saves only one drink drive death or injury then his ‘time’ would have been worth it.
Suppose I’ll get marked down for this dreadful comment I’m making too.
As I said too soft this country.

I don't disagree with you that he was stupid, or that the punishment for drink driving may be too lenient.

However, equality before the law is a fundamental tenet of our democracy. Your suggestion that McPartlin should be treated differently because of who he is would undermine our judiciary and weaken one of the things that makes our democracy great.

He didn't kill anyone so in his drink drive case a life term prison sentence would suffice if he had killed someone then the death penalty is the only option for any drink drive parasite

It's hard to hold the steering wheel with 2 pints though. I reckon that's the main reason they set the limit approx just a bit lower.
