Happy Birthday to Her Maj on 08:22 - Apr 21 by Bluefish
She can have a happy birthday but she is a disgusting throw back and a criminal waste of money in this era.
We are all people and no one should be treated like she is.
The only argument I hear back is the tourist trade but they come for the history and the buildings, none of them meet her. When I go to othet countries it makes no difference is their monarch still rules
Balls.
You are now officially banned from my parking areas.
I hate you.
“Hello, I'm your MP. Actually I'm not. I'm your candidate. Gosh.”

Do those ones negotiate better for oil and gas then so we don't have to overthrow leaders?
Which countries still have a monarchy?
Off the top of my head: Belgium Brunei Cambodia Denmark Japan Jordan Lesotho Liechtenstein Luxembourg Malaysia (although it's a rotation between the monarchs of the different states) Monaco Morocco Netherlands Norway Samoa Spain Swaziland Sweden Thailand Tonga
There are also all the commonwealth countries with the Queen as head of state (Australia, Canada, New Zealand etc).
Edit: Forgot Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. The UAE is also sort of a monarchy but the leader is called the President.

As a lucky well travelled man I am constantly left upbeat when johnny foreigner tells me how much they admire Her Maj. I am genuinely saddened when our own criticise and dismiss out Royal Family.
I am a regular attendee of Queens / Kings Day in Holland and it is fantastic to see all the Dutch celebrating their monarch, it is one big feck off party that you have to see to believe. I witnessed Willem being crowned in Amsterdam, I waved at him whilst surrounded by other revellers aged from 3 - 100 years old.
Coincidentally one Queens Day clashed with William and Kates wedding. Along with ABB and a load of others we watched it on TV in a bar whilst completely blitzed on E's. Even the locals were cheering the TV. We all then went on to celebrate their Queen.
It was quite a remarkable day.
Ha,I just found this. This is some of us. Ipswich and Dammers in unison - celebrating Queen Beatrix.

The Royal Family are obviously a relic of a bygone age and totally anachronistic in the 21st Century.
But you know what, I like them.
They bring a bit of colour and faintly ridiculous pomp and ceremony to our country and we need that more than ever.
Plus, their role might well be largely ceremonial but would anyone really want to give even more power to our elected leaders? President May? Or Cameron? Or Blair? Or Corbyn?

Admittedly this doesn't compare with sitting in "group think" discussing ingenous ways of flogging even more obese kids (sorry mums) sweeties full of calories, sugar and e numbers.

But hey ho.
So she reads some letters and official papers, gets in a car, meets a few people. Not a hell of a lot different to what I described.
And where did I compare her to my job (which you've inaccurately described)?

So what you are saying is, the same people in the crocodile shoes and with the alligator smile, who persuaded the world that smoking was healthy, are now persuading children to get fat?

If you call waving working hard, I guess.
Guess what, I'd rather clean lavs or dig ditches by hand for 8 hours a day than have to do what she does - be in a goldfish bowl, stared at, have to wear a fixed smile & be nice, however I felt, to some of the unpleasant gobsh1tes that seem to be around these days.

She's been in a goldfish bowl and stared at all her life, she won't know any different.
Smiling and being nice I find easy (probably from my years in retail).
I'd put up with that hardship to live in her luxury.
