Looking at Villa's squad... 18:05 - Apr 21 with 2980 viewsjudespiveyg

We might as well forget financial fair play. I mean sure, they have the money to spend so they're perfectly entitled to spend it, but compare it to a team like us say, or millwall, it doesn't seem very much like 'fair play'.

I survived Ipswich 0-0 Burton

A Burton fan could say the same about us.

Ones that like really grind. He went elsewhere and albeit in a lower league excelled immediately.

Strange that Keane brought him in and didn't play him for a whole season, and strange to think Jewell and whatever coaching staff at the time didn't see anything to suggest he might be worth keeping. I don't think he was particularly young either (might be wrong there).

Is our budget several times higher than Burton's? We're WAY closer to Burton financially than we are to Villa.

I’m not sure the rest of football ever took FFP seriously in the first place.

It provided a useful smokescreen for the lack of investment in our squad for a few years but even Evans doesn’t seem to mention it much now.

For the first 20, they looked decidedly ordinary.

Are we starting to see what we already knew, I think. Mick is able to get a very average group of players to perform way above their collective ability. Not surprised.

I hope that whoever comes in is able to make some proper changes and invest, properly. I doubt that latter.

Or the idea of could be to prevent clubs from overspending, going into administration or even being liquidated.

Of course it isn't working, in the Championshop, Leagues 1 & 2 and the PL. There are always going to be richer clubs and poorer clubs in the same league, how things are evened-out is a mystery to everyone in football it seems, which is a shame.

I wish that money wasn't a factor, that the league could employ the players and divvi them up between the clubs for example, then it would come down to the better manager/better club.

Can't or won't happen of course.

19 when he arrived from Premier League Sunderland. What I meant was I'd like to think he would at least have been involved in the first team.

MM rarely had to play without the skipper.
We are seeing what the skipper is worth on the field
