That or just getting players back to full fitness - Huws, Adeyemi, Bishop, Dozzell, Garner... I think McGoldrick will go but otherwise him too.

We were missing our two first choice centre backs today too.

Not sure how anyone can call Towns season next season to be one of struggle , when we have played the entire 2017/18 season with virtually a whole team of senior players out with season long injuries.

Current injury list consist of virtually all 1st team players.

Webster
Chambers
Huws
Adeyemi
Dozzell
Bishop
McGoldrick
Garner

Players to come in
Downes

Two decent defenders out and no manager; plus the injuries you list.

They had quality though, but after the sending off it was a bit lace doily defending.

Mick Mills made some good points about playing three similar players in the midfield, Hyam, Skuse and Connolly coming on, tends to make us very flat.

Problem is, unless we risk playing Celina in the middle, we have very little option in the centre of midfield at the moment. The defensive midfielders are fit to play; the creative midfielders are on the physio table.

Agree, might have been interesting to have tried Bersant in the middle, he always looks up, unfortunately, not enough movement in general, so tends to get caught in possession of late. Probably too late now with two defenders out.

Celina did play in the middle today, for part of the game anyway, him and Nydam were swapping.

Don't boil a kettle on a boat.

Think you're being very harsh here, we were playing well prior to their 1st goal which was extremely fortunate. Ward's sending off changed the game and sealed the result. I thought it was harsh at the time, having now seen it on the telly/web can see why the ref saw it that way but there was no malice there. Colin Calderwood's comments seem to say the same, a harsh but fair red card changed the game.

The second half we were always likely to struggle and get pulled apart but what I enjoyed was that to a man they were trying to create things and have a go.

Good point, there was a bit of that going on. Hard to tell whether that had any real benefit with the sending off and frankly playing a superior team.

It is probably a bit late now which was what I was alluding to, especially as Celina has been in and out of the team. For next season sorting out the midfield (injuries, signings/loanees, recalls etc.) has to be a priority. As Villa demonstrated by switching play well today, but high up the pitch where it makes a difference albeit after the sending off.
