Fixed Odds Betting Terminals 05:36 - May 17 with 7374 views | The_Romford_Blue | To be cut to £2 maximum per spin. On the whole, it’s the correct decision imo. It’s a killer blow for the greyhound industry and a hammer blow to horse racing with the latter losing an estimated £50 million of funding. For me personally, I’ve said on here on the past I don’t use the machines as they are, to sports gamblers like myself, a disgrace to the entire gambling industry. I’m pleased they have been limited as a massive percentage of gambling addicts are addicted through these machines rather than sports betting. The only tint of sadness for me on the decision is that it may be the final nail in the coffin for the Greyhound scene in the UK. With Sky dodging the sport this year, the main income to the industry was bookmakers sponsoring tracks and competitions. Many beloved Romford Dogs is owned by Coral for a start. That’s my for and against argument but in the end, it’s the right call I think. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-44148285 [Post edited 17 May 2018 5:41]

I hardly play the roulette anymore anyway, that's the major game it'll affect, that and the mega spins you can do on the slots. I only really play 20p/50p on the slots. Roulette may as well be taken off of the machines now, pointless doing £2 spins

Fixed Odds Betting Terminals on 07:36 - May 17 with 5911 views | ElderGrizzly | Absolutely right decision. They are a parasite on the poor/addicted. Give it 6 months and the bookies will find a way around it though. They aren’t going to lose hundreds of millions without a fight

Fixed Odds Betting Terminals on 08:01 - May 17 with 5859 views | BloomBlue | Good greyhound racing is cruel the number of greyhounds dumped on the streets because they didn't make the grade has been terrible over the years. Thankfully as greyhound racing has declined so has the number of dumped greyhounds.

Fixed Odds Betting Terminals on 08:09 - May 17 with 5829 views | Ipswich_Loyal | Excellent decision. Although as previously stated, it won't affect slot games too much, more so roulette but I know that roulette is often the biggest struggle for those suffering with gambling addictions.
Fixed Odds Betting Terminals on 08:15 - May 17 with 5818 views | itfcjoe | If the only way the greyhound industry can survice is a subsidy from this type of machine then it is already dead

Fixed Odds Betting Terminals on 09:43 - May 17 with 5733 views | Ipswich1984 | While it will have a massive effect on the industries in shops, if people want to gamble stupid amounts then it will push people online to gamble as from what I can see the amounts you can gamble on those aren’t being lowered. If you are going to do it then you need to do it across the entire industry if the government really wants it to change and prevent people getting into debt.

FOBT and online are 2 completely different things.

Fixed Odds Betting Terminals on 09:58 - May 17 with 5707 views | wkj | Pretty good news all round to be honest, not being provocative for the sake of it, but like Joe said, if greyhound racing is reliant on subsidies then the industry is borked as is

Fixed Odds Betting Terminals on 10:01 - May 17 with 5699 views | GavTWTD | This is truly excellent news today. The only negative is that some people may lose their jobs as a result, which is unfortunate, but if some of the bookies disappear from our high streets that can only be a good thing. They say that people will switch to online gambling which then needs to be looked at. I'd personally do credit checks, and make sure all bookies operate from within the UK if they want a gambling license in the UK. At least the taxes will stay and benefit the country then. Shame the government then seem to have screwed up over cladding, but that's for another thread.

Good point re giants like WHill etc having relocated abroad - if they were made to return to being UK based, I'd have thought that in itself would provide jobs to cancel out (most of the?) job losses caused by changes to FOBT regs.

Given betting companies have been moving over there for the past 20 years, probably not a lot as many of them would've been in school, college, maybe not even born. Fk them though.
