Oh, missed that. 'Accidental' fouls are a yellow, 'deliberate' fouls are a red.
Oh for goodness sake... on 17:43 - May 19 with 2901 views | WD19 | It’s smart play, but it still annoys me that Hazard deliberately delayed shooting to draw the foul.

Jones was caught ball watching when the first ball was played to Hazzard, he was never going to catch him, De Gea should have come out and helped his defender

Last season. A genuine attempt to play the ball must be made and its a yellow as the goalscoring opportunity has not been lost. A shirt pull in the same situation is a Red Card. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

If the ref had considered it a deliberate foul, then it still would have been red. Given there was no way he could get to the ball, a red wouldn't have been unreasonable given the rules, but would have spoiled the game even more, given how rubbish Man U have been anyway.

A bit off topic - the Chelsea players were clearly asking for a red card. When does asking for a card become punishable by a yellow card?

So they haven’t completely got rid of the double punishment then. They always have to over complicate things. Deliberate and accidental is another subjective complication for the referee. Should just be yellow unless a certain goal was stopped e.g handball on the line

Oh for goodness sake... on 18:05 - May 19 with 2755 views | Steve_M | Well quite, comes to something when Shearer can point that out at half-time yet Keown floundered all half without being aware of the rule change. Jones didn't need to dive in there, Hazard wasn't going to shoot at that stage.

It is. Unfortuantely refs ignore this, and the continual berating.

Sort out because you’re not asking for a fellow professional to be sent off rather simply asking for a free kick.

It's just a different aspect of the overall game. I think this is how a lot of countries see it.

Yeah 'deliberate' and 'accidental' are pretty meaningless in football. If you make a genuine attempt to play the ball when you know you've got 0.1% chance of getting it but know you'll take out the man, what's a ref supposed to do?
Oh for goodness sake... on 20:36 - May 19 with 2544 views | poppiesman | Its very hard in any game to know if Phil Jones is making genuine attempts for the ball or not. At least the ref got it 100% right in this case. Bloody awful game for the neutral, shame Spurs didnt get there, at least it would have been a far better game, even though Spurs probably would have lost! How poor was Rashford, I just dont see why people rave about him so much.
