I was in Derbyshire yesterday and after a meeting I popped into a local café for some lunch, grabbed a pretty tasty 8/10 egg salad cob/bap/roll and went to pay...upon paying the lady behind the counter said..."What brings you up here? You're along way from Norfolk".
I've never considered myself to have a strong Suffolk, if any real accent...but by all accounts up here I sound like a budgie. Devastating. To top my day off, some of the onion in my cob/bap/roll has fallen under the seat rails in my car and I can't get it out so my car now stinks of onion B.O.  |  |

I told her I wasn't from Norfolk but she was close...at that point had she then said Lincolnshire I would have had to chuck the egg bap back at her...she did thankfully then say Suffolk. | |

I read somewhere years ago that the Australian accent is originated from Norfolk/Suffolk, which is why some people think that way. |  |
