These benchmarks are irrelevant.
Lampard is bright enough to know that if he chooses career in management his initial pay wont compete with those kind of figures.
This is balanced by the idea that if he takes a first job on say £500k - £1m, if he becomes a major success he could command £10m - £18m per year in the longer term. |  |

It's difficult to know full situation - he may have wanted a bit more because is probably coining it in at BT Sport and a huge pay decrease may be too much. Also he may have wanted to bring in backroom staff who are currently employed and budget not there - i.e. it's not much of a stretch to think a development coach at Chelsea could be on £10k a week and our budgets may not allow him to put in place a team he feels he needs to give himself best possible opportunity | |

Indeed.
He's under no obligation to accept our terms but it seems a huge contrast to someone like Warburton who spent his own money to go round and gain experience.
And if Lampard thinks that he's earned the right to be accepted as a manager on his own terms straight off the bat, then that would be a concern of its own. |  |
