I think it's more the methodology of the process that people might be annoyed at.
Of course speak to a wide selection of people but if they are the one you want don't wait to speak to someone else for two weeks - doesn't make the initial candidate very happy I imagine.
One can only assume he wasn't really going to get the job, otherwise it's weirdly handled.

I think it’s more a two horse race between a defensive and attacking manager - we’ve nisssed out on the attacking manager, mccarthys downfall was his defensive setup so surely we can’t go down that route.
