Could Hurst have been offered the job in December/January 09:43 - May 24 with 628 viewsBluefish

Sort of time when it was obvious that Mick was gone at the end of the season. Hurst could have verbally accepted but said not until the season has ended. The other interviews could be backup options or smokescreens to try and take the pressure off Hurst. It would make sense that we started looking for a new boss back then.

No, it's extremely unlikely and in reality wishful thinking.

Also at that point he was a manager who had taken Shrewsbury from relegation zone when appointed in October to 18th and had half an excellent season.

Fact he has seen it through to finish 3rd and get to a cup final makes the job and his CV all the more impressive

And we were still going for sixth place at that point, albeit that we went to sleep for three months instead.
