Strange comments from Skuse on squad unity 13:01 - May 30 with 8115 viewsSwansea_Blue

In his interview on the front page, he’s reported as saying

“When Mick left, we had Bryan [Klug], Chris [Hogg] and Nashy [Gerard Nash] in charge and you could see a real togetherness there, the group really came together, it was really tight.”

Now I always thought we had a close knit group under Mick. But that seems to suggest there was significant room for improvement if the dynamic changed in just a few weeks.

Am I reading too much into it or were the players becoming as bored as us? Skuse certainly seems excited just by the prospect of change.

I think it’s more in relation to the doom & gloom has lifted.

You are reading into it wrong, he is explaining that the group came together for the caretaker(s) instead of fracturing and making it a difficult end of season.

I think he means the three of them came together well as previously they hadn’t worked together in a managerial capacity.

For all of Micks fault he did bring together a group of footballers who worked hard for each other. Shame the football was so dull and dated as MM would still be here.

Jonas wouldn’t be a great loss.

He’d need replacing but him going wouldn’t be a massive blow.

Dunno, dynamics do just change when someone leaves, it's inevitable - the group is minus 1 or 2, those left may simply shrink the gap by huddling up tighter together, mutual support.

And Skuse would certainly not be a great loss, unless a leopard can change its spots.

....do you think we'll be able to sign to replace him?

On our transfer budget.

Do we know what the transfer budget will be? Maybe the purse strings will be loosened? In any case I don't see that we need that many new faces. From last season we lose the loanees, Skuse and Chambers, but we get back Dozzell, Bishop and Huws from injury, and Emmanuel and Downes from their loans. Keeping Bart would be a huge bonus.

Centre back & right back according to Wiki

If we get around £1m for Jonas I’d snap their hands off.

Isn't he just saying that despite the set-up being new, everything came together quickly. I'd be more inclined to see that as a sign of the squad unity under Mick.

Certainly, I don't see any pressing concerns for Hurst and Doig re: the group dynamic.

3 down votes for suggesting a half decent full back leaving wouldn’t be a massive blow.

Very strange.

If you can play right back you can play left back.

I was just using Nsiala as an example of an ‘international full back’ we can sign within our budget, numbskull.
