Noticed at the Suffolk Show that ITFC have teamed up with Copa to bring out some quality looking retro shirts.

A long sleeved blue Pioneer '81-82
The UEFA Cup Final shirt

Coming in really nice presentation boxes

Snr was talking about this on the phone, I assumed he was on the red wine.

Any pictures? Are they legit, rather than the plastic two stripe effort I got from Planet Blue a couple of years ago.

I don't think the UEFA ones have any stripes

The Wembley one has Punch, Greene King etc and looks absolutely spot on.

The 80s ones look a different shade of blue to the current shiny replicas.

That didn't work properly then, everyone* liked my suggestion of the red and black striped third kit form 92-93.

*Might not have been literally everyone.

I think it was everyone, to be fair. It's such an obvious kit to love.

Wembley 2000 is considered retro. I'm old.

Is it right there's a different coloured one being made available, something to do with winning a match in Europe?

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

presumably there aren't any copyright issues when reproducing old kits. I'm assuming ITFC own the rights (if there are any) to the whole Punch Apparel line. Adidas are probably too rich to care if a shirt from 30+ years ago is getting made again.

Think it's the 3 stripes/adidas logo which would be the issue, hence why they did a two-stripe initially.

I reckon they are. Hence why no Adidas logo!

I wonder if Greene King paid for the sponsor to be on there 🤔😂

That’s an absolute fail then.

We have Adidas as our main shirt sponsor!

Why can’t we actually have genuine Adidas retro shirts?

Ridiculous.

Imagine because Adidas is one of the most strongly protected trademarks in the world and they would want a punishing fee from the manufacturer or the club.

It might not be coincidence that this range is being launched at the same time as quite a few people have suggested they won't buy the new kits because of the sponsor.

The 81 is in an absolutely beautiful blue btw.

Oh, and the Copa store in Amsterdam is one of the city's greatest attractions.

Would be great if we could do something like this with Adidas - a commemorative shirt to mark the anniversary of MU winning the European Cup in 1968. No doubt it’s much more difficult for us though, given the size of the market for ITFC shirts compared to MU’s global fanbase.
