47 in a 30 13:57 - Jun 11 with 7093 views | itfcjoe | Got letter about someone in company vehicle with this - anyone know what likely outcome is for them? Speed awareness or points? If points how many? It's not ideal, but this guy needs to slow down so hopefully he gets a, big, kick up the arris

47 in a 30 on 14:00 - Jun 11 with 6326 views | artsbossbeard | He's over the threshold for the speed awareness, I believe. Straight into points territory. 3 if first offence, may be 6 if not.

That bad - he may not have admitted it so readily if he new as was a pooled van.....!

Might get away with 3 points and a normal fine, but I would think being more than 50% over the limit is maybe viewed more seriously.

47 in a 30 on 14:15 - Jun 11 with 6189 views | jeera | Copied from an article: "These charges are calculated on a percentage basis. A minor offence constitutes a band A charge. Band A charges are for drivers who exceed the stated speed limit between one and 10mph. So, if a driver travels 31mph up to 40mph in a 30mph zone, they can be charged between 25 per cent and 75 per cent of their weekly income. Drivers who exceed the stated speed limit by 11mph up to 20mph will be charged between 75 per cent and 125 per cent of their wage." Also, "In addition to the variable fee motorists could land themselves with a driving offence of this nature, they could also receive between three and six penalty points. " It also goes on to say that in some cases 1st time offenders may be offered the awareness course, but at over half the limit again though I'd be surprised.

47 in a 30 on 14:17 - Jun 11 with 6172 views | Pinewoodblue | Doubt if it would be awareness course or even standard fixed penalty. Magistrates court and a hefty fine. You say he needs to slow down hope you are just saying that as a result of letter from Police. If you know he drives like that then you have an irresponsible employee who could cost you big time in the future as his lack of responsibility will not be limited to just while he is driving.

What's a speed awareness course going to achieve with someone who is clearly willing to disregard the speed limit by so much anyway? Punishment not education in this case.

47 in a 30 on 14:21 - Jun 11 with 6144 views | BluJu | I know someone who did 51 in a 30 (a notorious local money making spot, leaving a village, fields either side...) and the penalty was 6 points with a fine above the standard £100, but not by much (can't remember the figure). They also already had 3 points for speeding so this changed their driving hugely. 50 is a threshhold to trigger a court appearance, so I expect in your case that will not be required.

itll be 3 points min The ACPO guidelines for Speed limit: 30 mph are : A fixed penalty or a Speed Awareness course: 35 mph A summoning: 50 mph so he'll probably get 3 points. 6 if he's an a**e about it OR a ban if : a) hes got 9 points already b) he's been driving <2 years and got 3 points already he's most likely to get 3 points and £100 or so fine though

I think both would be better - 3 points and a speed awareness course is better than 6 points in my view. I found SAC very worthwhile in the main, but can't remember what I was doing - think it was 57 in a 50
