Why the feck do modern day keepers spit on their gloves?
Can understand why they did it in the days before the ‘80’s when they didn’t wear gloves, but......

Gives the gloves a bit more stickability. With the material on the gloves’ palms they function better when damp rather than drenched. That’s my philosophy Bluehook.

Gives them more grip.

Better moist than dry.

Marking their territory.

I've never seen the opposing goalie attempt to take them.

Yeah I assumed that as in the pre gloves days, but don’t they have stickability built into modern day gloves? I thought at first that it was force of habit, but modern day keepers always have worn gloves.

Paula Radcliffe was allowed to take a dump during the London Marathon without reprimand and she won.
I'm surprised goalies don't just do the same on the penalty spot to put players off during shoot-outs.

How would they have stopped her? An Official Marathon Sponsor Addidas cork?

They made that, but only gave her one.
Unfortunately it was that time of month.

No one spat on their hands pre gloves. I really don't know where you've conjured that memory up from. Wet hands aren't the best thing to have when catching anything.

They do, but not so much if they are dry. Bit moisture takes off the dust.

No they don’t, they have new gloves sent to them regularly from the product manufacturers.
