I'd agree in principle that pens are often too soft, and something needs to be done to stamp out this mindset of 'winning' penalties. But that was clear cut imo. CR was clearly taken down, very little he could do to avoid it and it wasn't an obvious leg dangler. And he wasn't going down before the contact, Deli Alli style, a particular bug bear of mine.

This. For it to be a foul, you have to impede the player unfairly. Contact is not a foul. Putting a leg where someone can arrange to touch it, is not a foul. The game is going to end up utterly pathetic if we dont draw the line and stop putting up with this ridiculous idea that people are "entitled" to go down when they feel contact, or that its "clever" for a player to cheat by deliberately falling over an outstretched leg, or that it is the defender's fault for presenting an opportunity. |  |
