I agree especially as the ball goes to the right, suggesting contact with the ball. Though in the studio the ref has been criticised for not picking it up in real time (including by Mark Clattenberg) Which ever way you look at it VAR gave the right decision and has so far worked well.... |  | | |

I think "all-knowing, all-seeing" pundits are one of the reasons refs get such a hard time from fans and players.
I know the pundits want to come out with OTT statements for their own TV brand but they're frankly ridiculous. | |

Yeah, well that was much more similar to how rugby uses it in open play.
The key is the participation between the ref, the VAR assistant and the TV producers. Watched Scotland vs the USA rugby on the weekend and the cooperation with the TV people was all over the shop so everything took far too long.
Suspect that VAR will get much better once everyone's more familiar with it. | |

They're just debating VAR on the radio, general consensus it has been used well so far, but have an issue when the play is stopped when a decision is under review. | |
