Can anyone recommend any good books on Ipswich town mainly about the late 70s/80s

This is the only book to read.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mr-John-Cobbold-Eccentric-Football/dp/1848185146

Seems it's a bit pricey these days but if you promise to give it back you can borrow mine.

If you don't live in Ipswich I'll even post it to you but you have to post it back.

The Men Who Made The Town is in my opinion far and away the best of the many ITFC related books that I have got but one that concentrates more on the 1970's and 1980's is
Ipswich Town The Modern Era by Rob Hadgraft which covers 1971-2001.

No problem, it's more a hilarious look at John Cobbold rather than a book on football.

Game Changers is excellent

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

I have a book that came out in the mid 90's called 'In Quest of Glory'
It's basically a short summary of every single Town game in the Robson era from 1969 to 1982 written by a couple of London based fans.
I forget their names and I think it may have been quite a limited print but it really is an excellent reference book to browse through.

Edit - It was by John Eastwood and was a private publication.

Hi Colin
If I may I will get a plug in for my book
It covers the Leeds FA Cup being my first match in 1974 right up until around 5 years ago albeit mainly concentrating on 70s 80s 90s including a number of European Trips
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1499350570?tag=infiniplusthe-21

It has sold well over 1000 copies in paperback & kindle & all profits go to Colchester Special Care Baby Unit which total over £2000 so far

It has its own website and folk (if they want to) send pics from around the world of the book - been to over 50 countries and has had a few famous pics amongst the 200 or so photos
http://www.adventuresofatractorboy.co.uk/

Thanks Colin - hope you enjoy your read whatever you choose

12th Man (now) fully endorses The Men Who Made The Town. Filled quite a lot of gaps in his knowledge bank.

This surprises me greatly considering he claims to have been going to Town games for 25 years but was blissfully unaware we won the League in 1962.
