I'm thinking maybe 7, can't see us breaking double figures, unless he brings in some really talent.

Blackburn 1
Rotherham 3
(Exeter W)
Villa 0
Wednesday 1
Derby 1
Norwich 1

7 points, maybe 2 or 3 more depending on how good/bad Derby and Sheffield Wednesday are. 6 is an absolute must.

The beauty of sport is that no-one has any idea. No-one knows how good any of the other teams are, in general, but also on the day. As such, we could be top, or we could be bottom, or we could be somewhere in between.

You can't assume that Team X will be good, simply based on their name, the size of their attendance, their history or how much they've spent.

Things only become clearer after a few months of the season, as consistently good/poor teams will be where they deserve to be in the league table.

We all start with a level playing field.*

That's why we love the game. :-)

I think you have Derby's name wrong it is now Frank Lampards Derby County!

Blackburn Rovers H - 3pts
Rotherham United A - 3pts
Aston Villa H - 0pts
Frank Lampards Derby County A - 0pts
Sheffield Wednesday A - 0pts
Norwich City H - 3pts

9 points for me at the moment, that could change depending on the fire sale at Villa.

Interesting that nobody has gone for points Vs a much weakened Villa side as it will be next season.

Blackburn - 1
Rotherham - 1
Aston Villa - 3
Derby - 0
Sheff Wed - 0
Norwich - 0

5 Points I think.

Why the negativity on the OP?

These fixtures have given us a real good chance!

The first 9 games, even if we do the same results as last season and add 4 points for the 2 promoted teams in the first 2 games gives 18 points.

We have none of the relegated team at the star of the season.

PH has a better win rate than MM ,and I am sure we are all hoping (aren't we?) for a better season than Mick served up in the last 2/3, so just 2/3 points more would see us well up there in contention!

If we can't be optimistic now, when can we?

Start of the season is the worst time to play the newly promoted sides because they are still high on confidence from their promotion. I reckon that it’s the best time to play the relegated teams whilst they adjust to life in the Championship.

One positive is that our manager will know the promoted sides and will have a good idea as to what to expect.

That can't be right. Derby will be rubbish and mid table or worse this year because Frank Lampard is a poor manager and not up to the job. We all know that because he's famous. With such a poor manager we'll easily beat them. sure.

Has anyone any idea what team will be selected, new players, injuries, state of opposition when we play them, formation etc? If not then how can results be predicted at this time?

Could still manage 8, which wouldn't be a bad return, COYB

Think it’ll be 5. We’ll lose at Sheffield Wednesday, but pick up our first win against our friends up the road. It’s been long overdue.

I can see two wins coming up, I really can.
