Or Town being successful this season scare you?

I’ve learnt how to deal with disappointment so well with football that winning actually makes me worry...

Anyone kind of ‘get’ where I’m coming from?

I'm not that bothered about the World Cup (there is, after all, no Ipswich connection this time), but the idea of Town succeeding, far from scaring, quite excites me.

Yes, I know it could all be snatched away - again - and end in disappointment. But that's just the way things go (and have done for some considerable time now). There's always next season, fresh hope, the fans will still be following the team, meeting up, debating what's happened.

Or it might just click, then being a matter of hanging on and seeing how far the ride will take us.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

I've only abstained from voting because there's no 'oh do give over you great fanny' button.

Having been a purveyor of your posting style for some time, I would beg to differ.

I can't believe you mean 'purveyor'. Please consult a dictionary. Or as a German friend of my mother's would have said "Please insult a dictionary."

"no Ipswich connection"

apart from that Ipswich is a Town within the country of England

England winning the World Cup is my lifetime ambition, so I worry that when we win it in a couple of weeks, I’ll have nothing left to live for.

The celebration bender will probably kill me anyway, mind.

Depends, there's actually been some pretty enjoyable games over the last 12 months if you actually go to them. Some dross as well, no doubt, but it's not been without enjoyment.

I often think it takes a real special type of player/manager to carry on after winning something like the WC or champs league, if it was me, I 'm not sure how I be able to make myself want to win something again after i'd done it.... but then I guess winning becomes a habit and you get addicted to it almost.
