My mum has a Peugeot and got an error message about the gearbox. She has been told no one in Suffolk deals with these and been recommended somewhere the other side of Colchester.

Not exactly local J2 I know, but if she gets stuck maybe give these guys a call, for maybe some advice at least?
If she did need to use them at least they're a straight run down the a14, and there's a direct train line if ever necessary. Half hour away by train or car.

Quite possibly.
Plenty of codes can be looked up easily enough of course, and, as you say, any place with the diagnostics may be able to decipher the code, clear it, and see if it returns. | |

But also perhaps the code, vehicle model etc.
My mum had a Peugeot auto and her gearbox packed up and the potential cost for that was hideous too.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
Apparently it came up gearbox needs repair. Next to the D it came up with an S and a snowflake apparently. If that's any help at all. She thinks they said she needs two new valves although couldn't remember for sure and she has been googling it so might have picked that bit up there. | |

Apparently it came up gearbox needs repair. Next to the D it came up with an S and a snowflake apparently. If that's any help at all. She thinks they said she needs two new valves although couldn't remember for sure and she has been googling it so might have picked that bit up there. |

Although the solenoid valves and valve blocks were a common thing on the auto boxes, and there is usually a software update too, which needs to be done by the Peugeot dealership! |  |

Peugeot place in Bury reckons a valve on the box too.
