Can May actually survive this? I suspect he won't be the last to resign. SB

You wouldn't think so, but she's remarkably stubborn / thick skinned (and somewhat delusional).

Most of them want to skip this generation now, don't they. Think Javid will probably be in the running.

A case in point here:
The UK's standing as a serious political entity is being trashed on a regular basis by politicians motivated solely by their own careers and their shuddering mess of a party.

Agreed. However Mogg, Davis and Boris can cause no end of trouble from the back benches, that's assuming none of the other brexiteers leave today. SB

And not forgetting the poor case of Mrs Zaghari-Ratcliffe who would probably have been freed months ago had BoJo not stuck his foot in it.

That's a bit shoddy to say the least. Someone on those threads saying he was going to encourage the Western Balkan countries to join the EU? Satirists heaven so far this week.

I don;t think she can, in any meaningful way. It's crumbling around her. I actually feel a little sorry for her. I am though looking forward to seeing how Jeremy C gets on as PM in a few months. Now that will be a bundle of laughs - not.

Yes, and that's a fair point too. Not mentioned yet on here which is symptomatic of everyone taking their eye of the ball because of the Brexitshambles. But you're right. Not the time to go when we could be facing one of the biggest diplomatic challenges in the modern era (although given it was Boris, probably better off that he has gone!).

Ooo - sarcy! Which crystal ball would that be Libby? suggesting that an election may be the end product of all this and that JC could be PM? I don't think it's that far fetched.

I can see May doing a John Major and resigning only as Tory leader then putting herself up for re election.

Do you reckon Mogg will put himself up or back another Brexiteer like Gove? I think if the Tories went into an election with Mogg in charge, they would be toast

That would be nuts, just 12 months after her last miscalculation around her last GE. We can't keep having GEs every 12 months. I'm struggling to think of a time when the PM, the cabinet, the leader of the opposition and the shadow cabinet have been so feckless at the same time. And also with the 3rd and minority parties having such little support. Does make you wonder whether Farage is going to throw his hat back in the ring with UKIP. That could really throw the cat amongst the pigeons.

The fight is just starting. With Raab in the mix now the right will soon move but they will be careful not to bring the governemtn down. She may well resign during the Summer recess. Or, do you expect a McMillan style 'night of the long knives'?

Not entirely sure what to expect but if they are serious about wanting to disrupt her soft-brexit plan then you would think something like the long knives would need to happen. SB

Mogg's probably happiest sniping from the backbenches. Although he's wildly popular amongst Sun readers and others, he really doesn't have the support of many MPs. Running for leader would show the same level of foresight that his dad once possessed... hence the nickname Mystic Mogg!

Unfortunately you also have to add in our media. They should be a safety net for all this but they're more of the underlying problem by either being partisan and populist or neutral and w4nking themselves dry over internet clicks and free content.
