Lump on Salford for the title before their odds drop further! 17:03 - Jul 19 with 1895 viewsDanFord

They've signed Danny Lloyd now from Peterborough, after getting Adam Rooney. They have Graham Alexander as manager. Buying up League One talent for the Conference. They are going to stroll it if they keep this up! Lloyd got 8 goals in 31 games last season from midfield for Posh (some of them screamers) and he's dropped down two divisions! We knew Salford were offering top whack, but clearly more than League One teams as well now! Championship teams were looking at him. You don't move from Peterborough to Salford and drop two divisions without serious wedge being involved.

Maybe those players prefer being big fish in small ponds rather than trying to grow into their full potential in the bigger ponds. Salford and Billericay are seemingly unstoppable at that level of football with the resources being invested, but it will be interesting to see who can go the furthest and sustain it the longest.

If I had to guess I'd say that within 5 years Salford will be in League One and that's when the stagnation and small fan base starts to take it's toll. Maybe this Valencia chap and the Class of 92 will keep pumping money in but they are not going to have £5m to go out and buy players in the Championship you'd imagine on gates of a few thousand. Would be gambling an obscene amount of money to try and get into the Championship then in the Premier League to get it all back. Otherwise they'd just be throwing money away. Will be interesting to see where they plateau. Guess they'd just about hold their own in League One by becoming a selling club and making tidy profits like Posh do. Best they could realistically hope for. AFC Wimbledon did the same (without the mega bucks) and then hit their ceiling. Salford were something like 10-1 this morning and are 3-1 now for the title.

The Billericay owner wants them in the Football League 3 seasons from now. Appreciate they are a league below Salford City, so Salford have the upper hand at the moment. Nevertheless what both clubs have done off and on the pitch is pretty spectacular!

There's a fair bit of money in that league already, and it's very difficult to get out of - it's not a given Salford will win promotion but they'll be top 6 for sure.

difficult indeed, but they have got to be seen as failing if they don't go up. it would be a costly season

Tamplin on Twitter tonight set to unveil two new signings before Billericay’s friendly with Maidstone United tomorrow night, reinforces his aim to make sure player's wages (in total) are 20k or less per week.....in the National Conference South!!
