He's off isn't he?

Just hope for once we get the replacement done beforehand.

Yep, I think I'm pretty resigned to the fact we're going to lose him. If we do, I hope it's sooner rather than later.

We'll then have to wait a week to get a loan in from Division 3.

Or maybe I'm being cynical?

Sounds daft but i'd look to get this tied up as soon as possible.

Granted have a fee In mind, but be specific. This is the fee, either yes or no, don't bother with any other bids.

Of course not Bloots. Mind you I don't think we'd be able to get someone on loan from the National Conference judging from the wages Salford City are reportedly paying either!!

....if it wasn't so close to being true.

You can probably add Billericay into that equation too.

Maybe Evans' stance on Bart is a sign of things to come?

Maybe?

Nah.

I'm obviously having a breakdown.

....that was the old managers "get out option".

Proven in the Championship, tries hard, but past it.

New manager is more "proven in Div 3, tries hard, might step up"

I guess the new option is more fun.

What is pretty clear is that we are prepared to sell him should the right offer come in.

That is still a long way from actually selling him though, so you can all put your tin hats away for the moment.

.....it's literally the only hurdle.

If the valuation is met, then he's hardly going to be offered a reduced wage packet by anyone is he?

Plus it's reported that he wants to move back north.

If the valuation is met he'll be gone.

End.

Seems strange as Waggy has come across as being very happy in Suffolk, has moved his parents down from the North East and has really bought into the area and community, with his wife and their involvement with the Baltacha foundation.

He seems happy here

PH has seemingly set expectations by mentioning the "firm interest". As below, if someone meets his valuation then he'll go but that's the same with every player.

You'd like to think that PH knows that he needs time to get a replacement. Probably more time than he'd imagine given our apparently lackadaisical transfer approach further up the food chain.

I think you are probably right.

Waggy will have some say, but if a club agrees to let you go, then it's probably time to get your coat.

Not everyone pays more than us btw.

Where is it reported that he wants to move back north?

I bet Bloots will downarrow this.

....paying £7M for a player will be able to offer higher wages than us.

This said I hold out total hope that the next news we hear will be that he's been offered and signed a new improved long contract with us.

Given the Bart situation, it's not out of the question.

I'm drunk.

It's not really 'back north', at least in terms of being particularly close to the area he originally comes from. Little more than half way, in fact.

Every player has their price sadly.

Evans is running a business and if he's valued by Evans and Co at £7m and that's met by whoever, then it makes sense to realise gains on an asset while it's saleable.

I really hope we offer Hurst as much scope for success as possible for this one season at least. We're entering the unknown and a squad short of it's arguably best player is a massive risk, much more than £7m worth of cash.

I'd say offer him a new deal, or let his contract run down like McGoldrick.

I'd rather chance him keeping us up and losing him for nothing that chance him going and replacing with an inferior player and us going down.

Where are these reports that he wants to move back north? Are they from a decent source, because they seem at odds with the word on the ground here (Phil, and others) that he's actually very settled, together with all his family.
