Just read that only 10 english clubs have played more European competitions than us. Impressive.

I hope they've included the Anglo-Italian Cup in that.

But..but..but whatabout Norwich.
They have a great European tradition according to them.
6 UEFA cup games and 12 Anglo-Scottish games.
Don't diss the Anglo-Scottish Cup - Scotlands in Europe after all.

Don't believe a word I say. I'm only kidding. Or am I?

In fairness our European adventures were also mainly over 30 years ago. Only two European appearances in the last 30 years for us and one of them was because of the Fair Play league.

We played as many European games because of the Fair Play league than some clubs have played in their history though.

West Ham

Pretty sure they didn't have that many years in Europe? They were in Div 2 at the end of the 70s.

Only qualified for 3 years. Whereas WestHam were consistantly in Europe 60s through the 70s winning FA Cuo 3 times?

That was when punching above our weight meant something though. Now it just means finishing higher than 17th in the second division...

Surely Villa qualified for the UEFA Cup/Europa League a few times in the 90s and early 00s?

It is Villa. West Ham are way down the list. Only 3 times more than Scum.

and those West Ham games must have been mostly in one season because they won the Cup Winners Cup in 1965.

If The Times is to be believed. As you say they won the FA Cup 3 times, and their win in the Cup Winners Cup makes it 4 seasons.

If the Anglo-italian cup were considered a European competition even though it involved clubs from only two associations and not all of UEFA, then we could claim another European trophy.
