Razors 07:27 - Jul 27 with 4313 views | fallyblue | Have any of you tried any of these new Harry’s razors advertised on here or any of the other new brands on the block such as dollar shave club? If so how do they compare with the more familiar Gillette ones, for value and quality? Cheer
Razors on 07:33 - Jul 27 with 3895 views | chicoazul | I have become a bit of a plastic crusader so amongst other things I have stopped buying disposable razors. I now use a double edged safety and just get replacement blades. They don't shave quite as well but I get to feel smug and superior about them which is important for me.

There does seem to be a movement towards the safety razor Why don't they shave as well?

I dunno. I don't use soap or gel or anything, just hot water in the shower. I just find if you don't shave at least every other day e.g. if you have 3 days growth then it takes a bit longer than using a disposable and misses some fuzz. I use a fresh blade every time.

Probably because they have a single blade rather than the two or three in disposables. Just means you have to spend a little more time going over each area.

When I used to shave my head with one, I found it was way better with a decent soap. Got a better shave than I did with disposables or similar. Plus the blades were really bloody cheap. [Post edited 27 Jul 2018 8:19]

Don't use soap on your face to shave my brother. Just use loads of hot water especially if you get razor burn or spots or whatever. After a couple of times you wont get any cuts or nicks or razor burn at all, thats a chico guarantee.

Oh I've given up shaving with a razor now, just go over it with an electric. It's a pain in the arse shaving your head with a razor and I've not been clean shaved on my face in a decade now.

Reminds me of my grandad: "I've had this broom 35 years and in all that time it's only had three new handles and five new heads." I suppose he might have used the same nail each time.
Razors on 10:18 - Jul 27 with 3485 views | Mullet | I brought a massive multipack of decent single razor blades, a good quality safety razor, proraso stuff and a stone to keep bumps and rash down, all for about £30-40. I'm still using the razors 5 years later as I often have a beard but the value is outstanding and basically with practice I can get the same shave you pay for from the barber. Far far cheaper and better than Gillette and all that rubbish. Not heard anyone mention using these subscription services to be honest, but it might just be the circles I move in. They seem to have survived a couple of years now.

Razors on 13:05 - Jul 27 with 3317 views | pimballwizard | Medium to hot water on the boat race..... splish splash After 30 secs cover with Johnsons baby lotion.......leave for a minute.. shave in an upwards motion with some disposables from Poundland (twin bladed 10 for a squid) Use an old toothbrush to clean the shaver blades... and a basin full of hot water to refresh.... Missed a bit ? Use an electric shaver on the sensitive areas to tidy up. Cut the skin ? Use a styptic pencil and/or an astringent to stem the blood ( Boots or Superdrug £1.99) Repeat as necessary..... Harry WHO ?????
