TLA: RIP 10:37 - Aug 5 with 107754 viewsSwailsey

Hello all,

Lisa has asked for me to pass this very sad news on.

Unfortunately we lost Oz yesterday. By all accounts he wasn’t in any pain or afraid.

I know the messages below were recieved and provided comforted to both him and Lisa.

RIP Oz. I wish we had met sooner than a year ago.

You were a fu*king hero and someone I knew would be a friend for life.

Marc

–-

It’s with a very heavy heart that I received a message from TLA’s wife last night saying he is critically ill in hospital at the moment and isn’t conscious. He has been battling health problems for a while it seems.

TLA has been a wonderful (digital and in person) friend to me since meeting him on here and I know he has been supportive of many others on here too.

He recently deleted his profile (I’m unsure of the reasons why - perhaps connected) but I know his wife still reads TWTD, so I’m calling on all of you wonderful people to help make this a thread of love, support and best wishes to them both and their friends and families (this thread has her blessing).

Let’s give him something TWTDesque to read.

Hang in there mate. The world is an immeasurably better place with you in it. Missed you at half time yesterday.

Would be great if we can get the club to do something around this, perhaps even in partnership with Norwich as per the spirit of the project. I keep welling up reading posts on this thread, what a lovely selfless man Oz was.

Thanks so much for sharing this, chrisswailes. Even though it says the evening part is 'private', everyone's welcome, especially the TWTD family! It'd be great to see some of you there.

I cannot be there but Oz certainly seemed to make a great impression on anyone and everyone that came across him either through his work or just by meeting him a couple of times in Fanzone as I did.

I hope that the day goes well as it appears to be set up as a celebration of a special person's life.

I've not said much in this thread as, due to my own crippling stunted emotional range, I tend to feel a bit awkward posting in these circumstances about someone that I don't know.

However, the thread has come back up, so I'll just say that judging by the comments here Oz was clearly someone that had a huge impact on a lot of peoples lives and I feel sad for everyone who is clearly going to miss him terribly.

I hope that Monday's event goes well and that his life is celebrated by everyone that can make it.

I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun. I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

I'm so sorry that I can't make it tonight, my sincerest apologies. All the best to Lisa, family and friends.

The least I can do is make a donation to the organisations on Oz's poster. I will get on it ASAP.

Yesterday was a truly humbling experience for the three of us who went, and an extraordinary amount of effort was put into the day by those closest to Oz and those he had worked with.

We said a few words about the forum and the impact he had on a lot of people here - and the ridiculously huge number of views and replies this thread had!

Here's a report and video on the day: http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/celebration-of-life-oz-osborne-1-5699308

Some links to the work Oz has been involved with (and which will continue to be vital for many people), if you are interested. They are well worth a look:

RIP Oz. x
