I could be wrong but i think some form of TV rights with Sky or one of the other channels buying the rights to show mid week games only not weekend etc which will be a competitor.

Not sure why there were no league cup games this week. There are so many complaints about fixture congestion and truncating the F.A. Cup and yet they leave this week free.
