Altho R-M did claim May was afraid of Johnson's 'strength of leadership', rather than his duplicity, incompetence or ability to run away at the first sign of trouble. I doubt that many Conservatives - either in Parliament or voters, whatever the party membership might think - particularly trust Boris any more.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

If BJ somehow found himself in the final two we could end up with Johnson vs Corbyn, both backed by party members but unelectable to much of the country.

My money is still on Rees-Mogg although hoping i'm wrong.

Truly impaired.

Christ, this is basically 'who would you prefer, Keane, Jewell or Megson' isn't it?

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

More like Chopra, Bowyer or Bullard.

Which makes May- Jewell. Although running through a wheat-field isn't the naughtiest thing he has done.

R-M would be far more unelectable by the country as a whole than BJ. His views are too radical and he lacks the populist charisma.

I meant as leader of the Tories. I think he'd do better than many think against Corbyn.

He wouldn't need an election if he replaced May soon enough.

They'd never let R-M end up in the final two.

I don't think he really wants it. Much easier to snipe from the sidelines whilst making bare coin from your private interests.

Yet again Mrs May has shown poor judgment and allowed what should have been a minor story to become a crisis for our 'party of government'. All she needed to say when 'burqagate' blew up was that Johnson's comments were unwise; the 'story' would have passed off as yet another example of the odious Johnson's craving for the limelight. Instead she will now either proceed against Johnson and look stupid when his comments are rightly judged to be inoffensive, or she will look weak if she decides not to proceed against him. She is, yet again, losing out to the Brexit nutjobs within her party.

As for our next PM... Who in their right mind would want that gig? Our leaders seem determined that Brexit must happen on the spurious basis that it is 'democracy at work'. Surely nobody would want to be in Number 10 (or Number 11) as our economy freefalls into oblivion.

Poll: Last game of the season. You need to win. Would you rather be...
