Recommended watch brands? Circa £100. 12:20 - Aug 23 with 5713 viewsThisIsMyUsername

Looking for something smart but casual. I can't really do leather straps as they've given me rashes in the past and I don't want a metal strap either. Not too expensive, around the £100 mark.

I've been recommended Skagen already who have some with quite a cool-looking mesh strap.

Seiko would be my recommendation. Might run you slightly over £100 for a good quality one, but from personal experience they’re absolutely worth it

I appreciate it's not a lot of money for one but I'm sure there are still some which are better made than others.

I'm sue there are, but every watch will run for a few years at worst and at that price point it will be decent value even if it dies after 5 (which it likely won't) so design should be key driver

You can probably pick up a Daniel Wellington watch for <£100, they're decent enough.

Second hand Apple Watch. No point buying a watch at that price point.

I like the look of Lord’s solitude watches

Edit sorry just realised they have a leather strap. I too prefer meshes though.

Nonsense. He might just want to be able to tell the time and isn't worried about waving some bank breaker around to compensate for a tiny johnson!

It’s not nonsense. If you only have £100 to spend then you may as well by one from EBay or Wish for £5 that you like the look of. It will tell the time as well as anything else and when it breaks, just get another.

Can’t see any point in spending £100 when s £5 watch does the same.

Doesn't that apply to a thousand pound watch then?

Sure does. However if you have the disposable funds, then why not purchase something that you enjoy wearing and is pleasurable to look at?

Likewise, if you don't have the disposable funds, but can afford a hundred quid, why wouldn't you buy something that you enjoy wearing and is more pleasurable to look at than a five quid watch?

Agree, can't go wrong with a Timex Waterbury. Very smart and it tells the time. And the screen lights up when you press the button on the side.

Also Zeppelin make very nice looking watches, although they'll set you back around £160.
