Whats too young for Norwich away? 17:03 - Aug 28 with 3431 views | flimflam | My two juniors keep asking to take them to Norwich away which I have not done so far but thinking about it this year although would avoid trains and drive there. They are 12 and 10 and twenty years ago would not have dreamt of taking them but the derby seems to have mellowed somewhat so am in two minds to take them along.

Whats too young for Norwich away? on 17:06 - Aug 28 with 3409 views | Steve_M | The biggest issue would be our dickheads who delight in throwing beer around and making life unpleasant for everyone else. There really isn't a great deal to worry about from Norwich fans but still not sure it's ideal for a 10 year old.

Whats too young for Norwich away? on 17:11 - Aug 28 with 3360 views | textbackup | I went to first derby at CR when I was 10/11.... via coach though. no issues what so ever. i think if you got in, went to seat, avoided beer throwers at HT, you'd be fine. however, and im as guilty as any, the language is horrific.

Whats too young for Norwich away? on 17:15 - Aug 28 with 3334 views | PJH | My first derby there was in 1964 at age 13-I went on my own on normal service train. Not too relevant to your post but just thought that I would mention it! I would think that you and they would be fine.
Whats too young for Norwich away? on 18:51 - Aug 28 with 3163 views | Chocorange | I took my little boy to his first one a couple of years back aged 7 , and both him and his sister last season , aged 9 and 8 at that stage. They both like to stand and sing and thought it was one of the best away trips of the season. We go to most away games. We did take our seats just before the idiot teenagers decided to pull down the tvs in the away concourse..so they didnt see that which i am thankful for. Apart from that( which hopefully wont happen again) great atmos, and they loved experiencing and being part of a huge away following , something they havent seen too often. You will probably need several away tickets for the kids too or be a member/,season ticket holders to be able to buy them for that game. A friend of mine also brought another 8 year old who also enjoyed the match...apart from the last 30 seconds!

The beer throwers tend to be before the game. And I wouldn’t be at all surprised if NCFC decide not to sell alcohol in the away section this season thanks to the absolute melts that decided to act like morons in their one away game of the season.

Whats too young for Norwich away? on 20:30 - Aug 28 with 3034 views | NBVJohn | I don’t think that this fixture is as bad as it was in the early 80’s. These days local rivalry feels so false and hyped up by TV channels and is less natural than it used to be. If it’s any help my lad is 11 and a big Villa fan, (he’s been brought up in the Midlands) and I reluctantly took him to the Birmingham game last season. We went in early, went straight to our seats and left for home immediately after. It was fine although he did remark that it was much more intense than usual. In truth I didn’t think it was any different to an EA derby, and I have been to many over the years. In my opinion even the most aggressive idiots don’t go after children- the greater dangers is getting caught up in something outside the ground. By getting there early, you reduce the risk significantly.
Whats too young for Norwich away? on 20:56 - Aug 28 with 2973 views | flimflam | Sounds like should be fine then if I keep away from the usual motley crew. We are all season ticket holders and gold card, junior blues etc so tickets wont be an issue. Been to a few derbies at CR years ago and usually lots of bravado and hot air but still intimidating for young uns so would probably drive and park away from the masses. We got caught up in the trouble on way to station last season at PR so made a quick getaway before they saw anything too bad!!!

Whats too young for Norwich away? on 21:43 - Aug 28 with 2863 views | gainsboroughblue | To be honest, Norwich away is now probably the safest away day in our season given the early kick off, police presence and escorts to and from ground. Just be aware that you may be shunted onto a train home whether you drove there or not.

I've heard so many people that have had this problem..... yet for the last 3/4 derbies I've walked out of the escort, around the long way, and got a crate of beers from the coop in the station for the journey home.

I remember having a heated debate with Kingy inside the Guineas in Reading as he was insistent I board the Waterloo bound train while my car was parked half a mile away and was staying over at a mates.

My first trip to scum away aged 12 was a disaster. ZDS Cup in 1991. Went up on the coach , rocked up at the ground on;y to be told the away end was full and they wouldn't let any of us in, even though we all had tickets. OB wouldn't let us get back on the coach, just walked about a couple of hundred of us around and around the ground until the game ended when they all ***ked off, leaving us to it (bear in mind these are people who go on the coach, mostly older people, younger teenagers and families) load of scum came running down the hill, we turned and legged it. Bloke in front of me lost his shoe and fell over, I tripped over him and went down like a sack of sh!t. My old man stopped to pick me up and two scummers started whacking him until another one clocked me on the floor and said "Leave him, he's got a kid" and they all ran off.

That was the crappiest night ever. I was 17 and went up on the coach like yourself. 90 minutes of being marched around the ground looking at all the empty seats that could have been filled. Got home and discovered my nan's shed on Whitehouse had been broken into and my bike stolen.

At least I didn't get my bike nicked. That's why I really hate those budgie c*nts, lying on the floor watching them beating my old man up.

I was 16. We went to that with a guy who lived in our close and his cousin was a budgie. We parked at their’s and when we heard the away turnstiles were closed, he got us in the River End, along with some other Town fans who were in there under cover.

Well, quite. Don't walk in in a big, loud group and it's fine.
