I should add that our wi-fi covers the entire house and garden, so I can sit in the summer house to listen to music/watch films or TV. If the rolling acres of Factual Palace are covered, then I'm not sure why you've got a problem. Is your house made of lead?

Your router is probably sub standard, especially if its one given to you by your isp, you would be better off buying a Draytek 2860 series, about £150

I have the same issue as the OP, because of the layout of our property. TP Link worked for me

They can work well but need the rooms to be on the same circuit, they can also produce some nasty interference.

Got them in my house, have them straight in the plug, then multi tap off the back of them. can't fault them at all

Mine doesn't. I have a bt homehub, I've tried changing it but it is hopeless I've got 2 powerlines to extend the network but it messes up the chromecast and the Sonos all of the time I despair with it
