There is no doubt he was the finest player to wear the blue shirt,followed in my opinion by Muhren and then Wark.We were lucky to have him but his injuries meant he wasn't available so often.Today his injuries wouldn't have been such a big deal.

His knee would have been rebuilt, treated by the worlds best, and playing till he was 35. I think Cortisone was a bit of a miracle drug at the time. Some say Robson would ask him if he wanted a jab, beat would say 'of course', and another 90 minutes of pain free football would ensue. Trouble was, the knee, cartlidge was just crumbling away. The pain came after, so the cycle continued.
