Is anybody clinging to the notion that this is any better than last season? I think it’s wose.

Still booting it out for a throw from the kick off
Midfielders who can’t pass
No efforts on goal
No crosses

Just way below par players who struggle with the basics

It’s marginally better. We’re trying to play more, but just can’t. Our U23s can though - I’d seriously think about involving some of them more.

Although it’s a bit irrelevant when you can’t win

The Paul Hurst press.

Where no one presses.

Think people got so used to the utter dross dished up last season that somehow stringing 3 passes together in the centre circle that lead to absolutely nothing is now seen as good entertaining football.

Or alternatively, the press where all your midfielders chase the ball at once like kids in the park and the team loses all shape and allow the opposition to walk the ball unchallenged 40 yards to the edge of our box? Wtf is Hurst doing in training?

That, I think, is exactly the point. I’d love to know wtf is going on in training.

I heard of a rugby coach once upon a time who ran the beejayuss out of his players in training.

Fitness was his thing.

So much do that at one of the matches, one glib supporter observed that the coach needed to focus more on training his forwards to push instead of jump when in the scrum and jump rather than push when in the line out.

We’re a mess football wise.
