Sorry to hear that (albeit I'm never convinced we've actually got them till the confirmation email) we were trying from East Anglia - and then we had people trying from london, liverpool, cornwall, cambs, manchester, and kent I didn't even get to a landing page? Whereas the liverpool and cornwall people got in relatively quickly to buy 3 sets of 6 tickets! That's why there are so many scousers at Glastonbury! Try the resale.. its worked before

Anyone else get their Glasto tickets?..... on 10:08 - Oct 7 with 4703 views | Rozz | Just scraped through. We take the mates of mates thing to somewhat of an extreme and managed 137 tickets between us, with about that many again to get in the resales. I got fooking nowhere from London. Would get the grey landing page for a minute at a time, between 5 mins of timeout. Never past it. Time for a strong coffee.

137 that is absolutely mental - I thought ours was large You have many mates - do they neutral opinions of how Ipswich Town are playing?

Anyone else get their Glasto tickets?..... on 10:28 - Oct 7 with 4668 views | Currie10 | I worked there in 2013 - 3 x 8 hour shifts in exchange for a ticket. Quality festival, anyone going - you'll have a time :) May still have the contact who got me the ticket before if of use to anyone. Was easy. 1 nightshift Weds / 1 Thursday so could see Friday / Sat night acts and one 8-4 Sunday so missed absolutely nothing. Just sat in a car with a walky talky as ' security ' [Post edited 7 Oct 2018 10:53]

I was trying from Ipswich with others in Manchester, London, Mansfield all over with no luck! I’ll try the resale but don’t hold up that much hope.

Anyone else get their Glasto tickets?..... on 11:30 - Oct 7 with 4602 views | Herbivore | I went in '97 and '00, back when it was still cool. The mud in '97 was something else. Glasto is massively commercial now and modern music is mostly awful so I have no great interest in going again.

Herbie, I'm pretty sure that I'm older than you but even I don't agree with this 'modern music is mostly awful' schizzle. It makes you sound like a proper old fart. Doesn't sound like you'd get a ticket anyway.

Following Town through 16 years in the Championship has aged me terribly. To be fair I retired from festivals in my late 20s, just not fussed by them anymore. Glasto has become horribly populist and commercial though, I stand by that.

Glastonbury always in my peer group was frequented by people who were very into music, from what I see now people that go amongst colleagues have no interest in music and couldn’t name a Beatles or stones album if you asked. It used to be a festival of counter culture and alternative lifestyles and now it’s on the social calendar, people have glastonbury wardrobes and £150 wellies, headlined by Adele and Ed Sheeran.

It already was by the time you went you daft sod, and I speak as someone that went in 1998. Fashion magazines had already started flying models in to swan about for 15 minutes before leaving, and Robbie Williams was on the main stage. Go if you enjoy it (and can get a ticket), don't if you don't. I used to do 2-3 festivals a year back then and Glastonbury was my least favourite, but I don't begrudge anyone enjoying it then or now.

Think it's got worse since Mean Fiddler got involved back in the early 00s. But yeah, each to their own. If people like watching pop music in a field that's all good.

That said, the Music Venue Trust pointed out that if everyone who had failed to secure a Glastonbury ticket put their £250 into seeing bands at local grass roots venues, that would be an immense benefit to live music. If you want new bands at festivals, they need somewhere they can start to build an audience.

The one that's around now which seems (although I've never been, hence why I'd like to find out) to be like an old school non-commercialised festival is Beautiful Days. Love 'em or hate 'em (I love 'em), the Levellers have always had a strong link to what festivals were before they sold out to the masses (the festivals, not the Levs), plus there's always a good smattering of alternative / indie acts from the late 80s through to the early and mid 90s. Have never quite got round to getting organised enough to go though.

Levellers were spectacular at the 100 Club on Saturday. Possibly the best I've seen them, and certainly the smallest venue I've seen them in for decades. I've also not been to Beautiful Days, although most of my gigging friends go and highly recommend it.

The Levs fan page on FB has many people saying how good it was, with a slightly more eclectic set-list than usual to mix it up a bit - also looked like a pretty tiny venue! Looking forward to the UEA in November. Really should get Beautiful Days sorted out one of these, er, days.
