I think the Irish lads are a little different as they don't have the professional league there and they are still from the British Isles....

One of the literally hundreds of things yet to be resolved (although far from the most important). We've even got a book on all we don't know, but need to know about Brexit - https://t.co/lp90ejxrcY

That’s just one player who was a big deal and saw there career subsequently stall though

Tommy Oar springs to mind as well ... although he had spent the best part of 5 years in Holland before joining us.

True. We haven't had an Irish player come through the academy and make a meaningful contribution to the first team since Garvan and Clarke over 10 years ago though so still won't be any loss. That said I don't believe there will be much restriction on irish players playing in England under 18 anyway

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.balls.ie/amp/football/gavin-bazunu-395433 I know a guy whose son has gone to a Premier Club for trials and has now been offered a contract - he’s nearly 16. He was telling me the League of Ireland clubs are now holding out for more money and that usually means the players are heading over late teens. There are some decent young players but the League and FAI are a mess.

Carson was Northern Irish so would still be able to sign. Supple and Garvan are the two from the Republic who made most impact.
