I'm just gonna leave this here... on 10:34 - Oct 19 with 2487 viewsjeera

I saw the other day this was coming up.

Couple of years isn't long is it.

Surely he'll be expected to break conditions and will find himself back inside.

He's on a tight leash, but will that stop him creating a fuss or any influence? What to do with this creep long term?

This is just utterly stupid. Whoever decided to release him should be sacked.

Guess they are just following the rules which are the supposed to be the same for any convicted criminal and set out in law.

The strict controls he is under though would seem to be more expensive to implement than just keeping people in jail and he doesn't exactly have much freedom. I expect he will so something silly and be back in jail fairly promptly.

Put him, Yaxley-Lennon and both their mates on a remote Hebridean Island and leave them all to hate-f*ck each other to their hearts' content and stop making life more needless unpleasant for everyone else?

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

I'm just going to leave this here.......

Mossad have a wonderful track record of dealing with his type.

Assumption is to make an ass out of you and me. Those who assume they know you, when they don't are just guessing. Those who assume and insist they know are daft and in denial. Those who assume, insist, and deny the truth are plain stupid. Those who assume, insist, deny the truth and tell YOU they know you (when they don't) have an IQ in the range of 35-49.

Exactly.

I would imagine the hope is he'll flee surreptitiously to Syria or some other godforsaken place.

He will probably think that Syria is too dangerous for him. Fair safer to live off the state and radicalise the young or impressionable

How will he live off the state? I'm not aware of any entitlement to disability or sickness related benefits, and he's plainly not going to be available for work.

And this is worth bearing in mind

Sir Mark Rowley, the former UK head of counter-terror policing, said it is important "not to overstate his [Choudary's] significance".

"At the end of the day he's a pathetic groomer of others, that's what he has done in the past," said Mr Rowley. "He's not some sort of evil genius we all need to be afraid of."

Really not sure if I can agree with someone being put in jail for, basically, saying things. It seems to me that putting him in jail has raised his profile and spread his message.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Inciting people to commit terrorist acts can't simply be dismissed as 'saying things'.

A horrible thought but what if he said some things and someone he said them to then committed a terrorist act in which someone you knew was hurt.

Would you feel the same then?

The only answer to ever give to rhetorical questions is, I dont know.

My thoughts are simply this; when we lock people up for what they say we are on a slippery slope as, if it can be done to them, it can be done to any of us.
