George Burleys Barmy Army! 10:53 - Oct 22 with 2308 viewsFrimleyBlue

Only way to stay up this season IMO

McCarthy would be the ideal candidate in this situation, but of course we can't go there so the best alternative

so bring in someone with Ipswich passion as bringing in players for a relegation fight won't be easy, so will need to use what we have, get him to work with Klug/ Nash etc and our kids and get the young flair players brought into the club firing, get Bent in and go Jackson, Bent uptop, Edwards Right, Rowe Left, Skuse, Chab middle, Don RB, Chambers, Penn CB, Knudsen lb, Bart back in the sticks.

Unfortunately, that's what happens when the owner doesn't make the right choice.

Yeah and let's bring in Butcher and Holland too as it's all about sentiments isn't it? Maybe also a coaching role for Counago.

Being soppy must be the way.

Do you honestly think Burley would do any worse than Hurst?

We have had a clear evidence that he couldn't clear out his own mess with much better players in the team.

Sadly yes,

Been out of the game longer than Curbishley, managed to get us relegated from the PL by spending a huge sum on Sereni and as his back up the clown in chief Andy Marshall.

Let us remember Burley for the magic moments of the Play-off final and that one season in the PL when we bossed teams!

That was a long time ago and under different circumstances, he went on to have reasonable success at other clubs after. We are rock bottom, we can't get any worse and I would back Burley to get more out of this current rabble than Hurst is.

Joe Royle had to repair that mess left by Burley.

Yes different circumstances as we had better players than the current bunch.

what about the three or four seasons before we got promoted, we played some brilliant, attractive Football. The problem was bottling it in the playoffs but even so be nice to even be in the top or middle of table right now!

"Only way to stay up this season IMO".

Right. And then what? Keep treading water until some bored Arab decides to buy us? Hurst could have taken the easy path. Not sanction the sales of Webster & Waghorn and loan in one or two experienced Championship players and end 15th, 18th and 12th during his time at the club.

The Ipswich Job is a mission impossible. Trying to be successful on a negative (60% of what you sell) budget. Hurst tries to build a squad that has some transfer value and can be successful in 2/3 years. Only approach that could possibly work imo is indeed getting L1/L2 in and make them better. May I remind you we weren’t able to fekking afford some of the L1/L2 players we wanted.

Are there reasons for concern? Hell yes. I don’t have clue what Hurst is doing with our defence at the moment and it looks like he’s trying to find wins desperately when he should only have his eyes on the endgame which is building a squad that has some transfer value and can be successful in 2/3 years.

Might it be that he’s panicking because everyone on the side-lines is screaming for the likes of Burley to come in when less than 10% of the projects timeline has passed?
