Ipswich Town are in many ways like most other clubs. But in some completely different. How are we different ? Well, most importantly our history and in many ways this contributes to our downfall. Why ? because the fans are made up of those having seen enormous success for a small team and those that have unfortunately only seen failure. Therefore those that have seen the best and those that have seen the worst want more. Hence why McCarthy, whilst successful in some ways was never going to satisfy this yearning that we don't just want a team trundling along mid table with a point being better than going for three and we might lose. The Cobbolds knew it, Sheepshanks knew it. But sadly Marcus Evans doesn't and never will.
Absolutely spot on. I've been lucky enough to have seen the great times including those lovely European nights at PR and so many games when we went at the opposition instead of holding on for the draw so yes I find it difficult to accept a mid table championship team.
I suppose I need to adjust though and accept the present reality. (Sadly Evans obviously has)
Mind you after a couple of dull years life as a Town fan is interesting again !
